| Yes, we were watching for the meteor shower (an annual event). Was a little tired to do this (just got home from a 7 hour drive from Illinois), but is always worth the effort. Started out at D&J at 11:30, sitting in chairs in their backyard with his mom and dad also. Stayed out til about midnight and decided that wasn't going to see anything there because too many trees. So yes, the three of us (Jaelbez and PistolPink and me) thought that we would head down 42 to find a place to pull over and watch. Got all the way to Spring Valley and realized that we passed the best place back at Hedges Road. So back we went. Pulled off onto Hedges Road, parked got out and stood around for 15-20 minutes. Too many lights in the neighborhood. Off we go to whatever road over by Gerdes Turf farm. Another 15 minutes and PistolPink saw 1. Getting cloudy. Time to move on. The next idea was not mine, and I was a little nervous about going, but away we went - to the CEMETARY down below the airport. All the way to the back!!!!!!!. Yikes!. Stood around there for another 15 minutes or so. The girls thought that maybe they saw 1. Me - zero, nil, nothing, nada, just a lot of dark scary stuff. Time to go home. Had been a Very long day. But how you can NOT have a good time out with your daughters at that time of night. Many, many laughs P.S. Can't wait til next year. We could have just walked across the street to the AIA sports complex. | | |
| Yes, I'm talking about my yard. I finally mowed it yesterday. And it is full of dandelions, many large brown spots (winter kill?) and if you look close, you might find some "mohawks" there (I already saw at least 2). If you drive by and see some of them, please don't laugh, just go into the garage and get the mower and cut them down. Work to do for the summer. | | |
| We are inging a new chorus this Sunday, one that we have heard but not yet played. And, Bob had not really heard it either. So, being the nice guy that I think that I am, I asked Kalana3 to borrow a CD from the station so that we could listen to this particular song. At least would then be familiar with it. So done! Gave it to Bob and he played it through a few time to listen. Gave it back to me and Jaelbee2 and I listened to it Sunday afternoon. When got back to her house, L. wanted to ride with me over to church. No problem (you know that really feeds Grandpas ego). Put the CDs on top of the car (don't get ahead of me here) while strapping her into her seat. Took off to church. Yeah, you're right. Forgot to get the CDs. As drove out the driveway onto the street, heard this sound that sounded like a small rock hitting the car. Thought maybe I picked up a small rock in the tires and it let loose as I drove away. THEN it hit me --- the CDs. That sinking sensation in the stomach as I knew that I had had my wife borrow them from the radio station. What a miserable feeling. Instantly slowed down and turned around. L. was asking me what I was doing. So I told her and then told her that I was in some BIG trouble. Had to tell Grandma. I think that she found this humorous as this was the next conversation between us. L - Can I tell Grandma Me - No, I'll tell her L - I want to tell her Me - Why, do want me to get into big trouble No answer --- which really answered the question. Back to the house and into the driveway. NO CDs to be found. Turned around and was heading out so Jaelbee2 could leave also. Driving slowly down Ledbetter looking for CDs. Stop, look around, nothing to be found. Drive a little further and then CRU-U-U-NCH, CRACKLE, etc. I found one of them. I couldn't believe it --- I RAN OVER THE CD. Many, many, many pieces. Got to church and told Jaelbee2 what happened and she then laughingly told me that she found the other one and saved it for me. That was some relief, but I still crunched one and had to tell Kalan3. L still asking me "Can I tell Grandma". Oh well, I only have to find and buy 1 now. What an experience. DON'T BORROW CDs | | |
| What a great weekend (other than almost being caught in an extremely windy, snowy night - just barely made it to our hotel, didn't get to see any trains - too much wind and snow). But the time with Hodson NW was great. The highlight for me was when Kara (the 5 year old) sat on my lap, hugging me, and said "Grandpa, I love when you come here. I like how you smell." I think all Grandpas must have the aroma of Old Spice. Made my day. Went to a great Irish band concert, celebrated 4 birthdays, and then time was up. Headed home so soon - course it was a little difficult coming home as Kalana3 decided to sprain her ankles (quite badly too) just before we left. Extremely painful trip for her, but doing better. But always good to be back to Xenia - my town. | | |
| This has to be one of the best blues albums I have ever heard. I am in the upstairs computer room and Carolyn is at the other end of the house downstairs and she can hear me playing this. I have it fairly loud with a lot of bass coming through my subwoofer. Let me tell you it is all that I can do to just sit here and listen. My feet are a tapping and I'm a moving in the chair. Hard not to get up and dance. Really, REALLY like this CD. | | |
